The project for the new Biassono Primary School redefines the concept of educational space, presenting itself as an architectural organism sensitive to contemporary pedagogical needs and local social dynamics.
Spanning over 10,000 square meters, the intervention is characterized by a sinuous and organic formal language, articulated into four main volumes that appear to glide past one another. This morphological choice is not merely aesthetic but reflects a philosophy of fluidity and constant communication: the building abandons the rigidity of the traditional school corridor in favor of a spatial distribution that promotes spontaneous interaction and psychophysical well-being.
Through the masterful use of natural materials and a close integration between floors, including an underground parking level and two above-ground levels enriched by large terraces, the school manifests as a sustainable ecosystem where learning occurs in symbiosis with the surrounding environment.

Beyond its educational function, the building assumes the crucial role of an “urban hinge,” a strategic node that stitches together the residential fabric of Biassono with the precious green lung of the “Parco delle Generazioni.” Accessibility has been designed to encourage soft mobility: the hub of the flows is Via Locatelli, where a new pedestrian and cycle path acts as the backbone for a system of safe routes connecting the school, sports areas, and the city center.
This openness to the city is emphasized by the strategic placement of the library and auditorium entrances, positioned to welcome not only students but the entire local community. The integration of a 100-space underground car park and covered areas for bicycles and motorcycles ensures efficient traffic management, transforming the school complex into an inclusive and easily accessible landmark capable of generating a new sense of belonging within the neighborhood.
The organization of the interior spaces is conceived as a permanent laboratory for citizenship and creativity. The heart of the teaching areas consists of 25 classrooms designed to the highest standards of flexibility: thanks to sliding panel systems, environments can be reconfigured in real-time to favor collaborative work or interdisciplinarity.
The distinctive element is the unceasing relationship with the outdoors: each classroom enjoys direct access to patios, gardens, and educational vegetable patches, transforming nature into a true extension of the classroom. This holistic approach continues in the specialist laboratories and the school canteen—equipped with state-of-the-art internal logistics—intended as a place for socialization and nutritional education.
The interiors, characterized by natural light and transparency, stimulate student curiosity, making the act of learning a dynamic experience deeply linked to physical and sensory reality.
Completing the public vocation of the complex are the multifunctional gym and cultural spaces, which serve as true engines of civic life. The gym, independently accessible from Via Locatelli, is equipped for basketball, volleyball, and skating competitions, featuring stands ready to host 200 spectators and an outdoor terrace that amplifies its scope.
Similarly, the auditorium and the library were designed to live beyond school hours, offering the citizenry spaces for research, reading, and cultural debate. Ultimately, the New Biassono Primary School is not just a container for training, but a work of civil architecture that prioritizes collective well-being.
Every volume, every path, and every selected natural material contributes to creating a stimulating environment where education, sport, and culture intertwine to nurture the growth of new generations in a healthy, beautiful, and profoundly human habitat.
