Osservatorio e Albergo

Roccascalegna, Italy

The intent for Observatory Houses is to create a unique architectural body that looks for, in its form and material, a visual and spatial conviviality with the pre-existence of Roccascalegna. The square defines the space in front of the entrance to the building. The purpose is to offer at tourists a stay that is in balance between being in company and staying alone.
The bookshop, restaurant and training facilities of skylounge project the visitor’s look towards the natural scenery.
At night the stars’s lights fluctuate within these environments, breathing a magical atmosphere.
Developed on two floors with the aim of determining a composition of volumes with different height. On the first floor, telescopes room is characterized by openable roof to allow at visitors to watch the stars.
The observatory villa and houses are characterized by a patio with heated pool, where all rooms in the house open.
During the night you can relax immersed in the water where the lights of the celestial vault are reflected.
